Dan Bowles, CFI
Dan’s life reflects his love of music and aviation. He is from a family of teachers and musicians. He grew up in Indiana and Florida, loving aviation and reading Lindbergh and Guy Murchie. In his teens, he cast his lot with music and became a professional trumpet player and teacher. After college, the U. S. Air Force Band and grad school, he moved to Chattanooga to play with the Chattanooga Symphony, and performed with them for 30 seasons.
Introduced again to general aviation in his 30s, he became a pilot and flight instructor, and has flown and instructed professionally since 1985.
He holds Commercial ASMEL, Glider, Flight Instructor ASMEL & Instrument Airplane certificates. He is a founding member of the Jericho Brass, Chattanooga’s Traditional Brass Band, plays baritone and helps conduct the band. He also composes and arranges music for the band.

Mark Winton, CFI - owner of Hixson Aviation
Mark is a retired Air Force pilot who served on active duty until August 2000 and has been employed by UPS since January 2001, flying the DC-8 first as a Flight Engineer and for the past 6 years as a First Officer on the MD-11. He currently fly’s the MD-11 internationally around the world..

Doug Roach, CFI
Doug is a retired Captain with 31 years of dedicated service with the Signal Mountain Police Department.
He is married with 3 children and 3 grand-children.
He holds the following certificateds: Commercial Pilot, Instrument Airplane single & multi engine land, CFI, and CFII.
Total Time: Over 4,800 hours (as of 10/27/09)
