Dan Bowles, CFI

 

Dan BowlesDan’s life reflects his love of music and aviation. He is from a family of teachers and musicians. He grew up in Indiana and Florida, loving aviation and reading Lindbergh and Guy Murchie. In his teens, he cast his lot with music and became a professional trumpet player and teacher. After college, the U. S. Air Force Band and grad school, he moved to Chattanooga to play with the Chattanooga Symphony, and performed with them for 30 seasons.

Introduced again to general aviation in his 30s, he became a pilot and flight instructor, and has flown and instructed professionally since 1985.

He holds Commercial ASMEL, Glider, Flight Instructor ASMEL & Instrument Airplane certificates. He is a founding member of the Jericho Brass, Chattanooga’s Traditional Brass Band, plays baritone and helps conduct the band. He also composes and arranges music for the band.

Richard Whittemore, CFI

 

Richard WhittemoreRichard Whittemore is a true product of the flight schoold here at Dallas Bay Skypark. He began flying at the age of 16. At 17 he earned his Private Pilot license.
At this time Richard began attending Chattanooga State for a degree in Aviation Management. After studying for a year in Buenos Aires, Argentina, he returned and soon began managing the airport.

During his time as the airport manager Richard completed his Instrument, Commercial, Certified Flight Instructor and Instrument Flight Instructor. All of this training he did at Dallas Bay and is now Flight Instructing full time.

Richard holds the following certificates: Commercial Single and Multi-engine land, CFI, and CFII along with Complex, Highperformance and Tailwheel endorsements.

Doug Roach, CFI

 

Doug RoachDoug is a retired Captain with 31 years of dedicated service with the Signal Mountain Police Department.

He is married with 3 children and 3 grand-children.

He holds the following certificateds: Commercial Pilot, Instrument Airplane single & multi engine land, CFI, and CFII.
